Prologue

If astrology is true, then the ramifications are profound. In most cases we must be prepared to abandon many of our preconceptions, and re-think what we've been told in the past. This does not mean giving up our cherished beliefs, only that we have to look further back, or see behind what appears obvious, to a much larger picture in which everything has its place. The following short abstract outlines what must be assumed; the task of understanding how this works is left for the rest of the book. Constructive input or comments are always welcome.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF ASTROLOGY

By JohnK Hammelton

ABSTRACT

We begin with the belief that the universe is not dead and lifeless, but animated with spirit and mind. The Universe, as an entity unto itself, I call the Absolute, and the multitude of individual galaxies stand in relationship to this Absolute.

Galaxies are formed of stars endowed with mind, and stars represent the creative principle and formative power behind living worlds. The sun, or Solar Logos, has bound within it the power and plan for life on the planet Earth, and the solar system is the spiritual home for all living things.

The planets represent individual qualities and characteristics of our star, and these same attributes arise within the form of the human Soul--"As above so below."

The horoscope is a blueprint or pattern of the solar system at the time a Soul enters into the physical plane. Astrologers read the pattern taken up by the Soul through the horoscope.

This then is the basis and starting point for building a foundation for astrological thought.
