A: Astrologers say that the sun and its system of planets influence human affairs. Few astrologers will give you a very adequate explanation of how or why. After many years of study I finally had to rule out the four known physical forces in the universe as explaining astrological influences or vibrations. Astrology doesn't deal with the physical, but the metaphysical; it operates in the mental plane, or in the plane of Spirit.
The human soul is a composite of the spiritual rays emanating from the sun and planets. The sun represents our spiritual center, our Self-hood, and the source of our individuality. Other human qualities have their origin in the planetary rays, and through them we become capable of love and hate; live through joy and sorrow, and possess the power of good and evil.
Plotinus' inner visions allowed him to apprehend the nature of the outer heavens, and to articulate its structure philosophically. Through meditation he attained union with the ONE on four separate occasions during his life, and through this revelation was able to describe the relationship between the Soul and the sun-planet system, which is the basis of astrology. This idea is not just a Plotinian concept; Edgar Cayce was explicit about this in his readings; the founders of Theosophy discussed the planetary spheres, and references to other such "mysteries" can be found throughout the world's literature.
